This year’s annual Japan-Chile Business Committee meeting coincides with the 125th anniversary of officially established diplomatic relations between the two countries. On this occasion, the meeting takes place against a backdrop of various societal issues and challenges that require global action, including economic resilience, geopolitical shifts, modernization of agriculture, automation, robotization, and, in particular, the transition toward renewable energy.

This unique ongoing initiative aims to boost private-sector cooperation, and contribute to increasing business between the two countries. The Japan-Chile Business Committee is made up of businesspeople and senior executives at companies that have investments in or major trade flows between both countries, or who act as counterparties. These committee meetings have contributed to the dissemination and implementation of benefits obtained through trade agreements signed by Chile, in many cases playing a key role in the promotion of new business agreements.

Vicente Pinto, Chile’s Investment Attaché for Asia, participated in the committee meeting as a special guest of the Chilean delegation, together with the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Japan, Ricardo Rojas.
