- The investment promotion tour includes more than 45 activities in Milan, Madrid, Berlin and Paris.
The investment promotion roadshow in Europe, organized by InvestChile, began in Milan with a series of meetings with Italian companies. The tour, the most important activity of its kind carried out this year by the agency in the old continent, will also incorporate activities within the framework of the presidential visit to Spain and France. In total, more than 45 business instances are scheduled on the itinerary, which includes Germany and Italy. It should be noted that the European Union is a key partner for Chile and is the country’s main investor with 26% of its total stock of foreign direct investment.
The Italian delegation, headed by the director of InvestChile, Karla Flores, consisted of Francisca Müller, investment attaché in Rome, and Salvatore Di Giovanni, head of the agency's Investment Promotion Division. They were also joined by the attaché commercial in Milan, Felipe Repetto, and the Chilean consul, Christian von Loebenstein.
Among the companies holding meetings with the agency's representatives were the technology company Movyion, H2 Energy (Energy), HD Ponti (energy efficiency), Snam (energy), the consulting firm PWC Italia and the ManagerItalia association, which brings together more than 38 thousand top Italian executives.
Similarly, the delegation held a working meeting with Raffaele Cattaneo, Undersecretary for International Relations of the Lombardia Region Presidency, and his team. The meeting, in which the president of EuroChile, Vincente Caruz, also participated, explored cooperation and exchange alternatives on issues such as green hydrogen powered trains; circular economy; investment opportunities in Chile's regions; and green industries. Likewise, the development of a joint work agenda between InvestChile and the Lombardy region was agreed. The Lombardy region is the country's economic engine and has 800,000 companies, 20% of all companies incorporated in Italy.
“The InvestChile director emphasized the country's great interest in developing projects related to hydrogen production and the energy transition. Likewise, other collaborative initiatives can be developed in the circular economy sector, with a special focus on the revaluation of waste and residues from activities such as agriculture, sectors in which our experience could be valuable”, commented Raffaele Cattaneo.
Cooperation and exchange
During yesterday's session, the delegation also met with Raffaello Benetti, International Business Manager of Promos Italia; and Marco Fedato, director of the Area Attrazione Investimenti, Finanza e Turismo, one of the leaders of the Invest in Lombardy agency. An agreement was reached with the institution to address collaboration and exchange options, with emphasis on the study of the regional investment promotion model developed in Lombardy.
“All our efforts and activities are motivated by the belief that setting up innovative companies, which are on the frontier of technological development, can be a tremendous contribution to our economy, can generate solutions to issues that we are facing and of course generate jobs for all Chilean men and women”, commented Karla Flores regarding the agenda in Milan.
The roadshow in Europe will continue in Germany, where Nicolás Grau, the Economy, Development and Tourism Minister will lead the activities.}
