- According to analysis by InvestChile, reinvested earnings comprised the most significant component of the FDI flows at US$1.8 billion.
"This is a record figure for just two months; it is not an indicator for future projections," said an agency report, noting that the cumulative figure compares negatively with the February 2024 figure, representing a drop of 24.6%.
According to the Central Bank, the published figures are scheduled for review on May 19, 2025.
Post-pandemic recovery
Last March, the Central Bank revised the FDI figures for 2024. The correction revealed that as of December 2024, the country had received a cumulative net FDI inflow of US$12.5 billion.
More globally, the numbers show that Chile has managed to recover its foreign investment flows, which fell during the pandemic. The average FDI inflow in the last three years reached US$16.6 billion, 53.4% higher than the average for the two previous three-year periods.
